Now/Other

Now I live in Lehi.  I decided that even though I wasn't married I still needed to progress in life.  So I bought a house.  Jared and Chris moved in with me and it has been great, not quite as social, but great.  I have not regretted it for a moment.

I teach at Freedom Elementary still, this is my third year.  I love it as much, if not more, than I ever have.  I have tried really hard to continue to do better both as a teacher, and just as a person in general.  Hopefully the next chapter, of this book I call my life, will be marriage.

Audrey Davis via Facebook: Do you have the time we stayed up really late for the meteor shower, laying in the backyard on blankets, singing loudly, scaring Jonathan?

Comments like this make me realize why I teach and feel better when I'm not sure anybody got anything out of what I did today.

Marie Nuccitelli via Facebook:
My first memory is of a first time school teacher, just graduated, and not sure how things would go for my student who'd be in your class. You were really young and enthusiastic, and so we just waited. Most of what I know of you is second hand from our then 4th grader. She would sometimes say that math was easy, until you'd begin to describe it in sports terms (for which she had no context in order to understand). I would say that was her biggest complaint. Mostly, she would tell me about a student who would sometimes act out in class. How you were always looking for ways to help that student. I have no idea which student it was, but I remember being very impressed that your example was helping my student to see that just because someone in a class is obnoxious, annoying, or disruptive - it doesn't mean that we should immediately shun him. But instead we should find ways to help them understand how his behavior isn't helping himself, and that we do care and want to help find a way for him to participate more fully in the classroom. That was part of her education that is never going to be included in the core curriculum, but that is just as (if not more) important to me for her to learn. So thank you for that.

Oh Dave, My favorite memory is of you our first year of teaching at the dance festival. You were right out in the middle of the field with all the 4th graders busting a move! Best dance ever!
